Acer announces the affordable Liquid Z410 with a 64-bit processor and LTE

In just 24 hours, our homepage will be crawling with new device
announcements, but it’s the quiet before the storm until then. Acer
alone has so far gone for a reveal, and what we’re treated to is a
decent entry level handset that won’t break the bank.
Enter the Liquid Z410 – a device that costs only €129 (~$155
equivalent) but packs some non-too-shabby hardware under its fine
exterior. To start off, the device touts a rather compact, 4.5-inch
display with a qHD resolution of 540 x 960 pixels (good for 245 ppi),
and a 64-bit, quad-core MediaTek MT6732 with an ARM Mali-T760
GPU and support for Category 4 LTE (up to 150 Mbit downloads). At its
back, the Z410 has a 5-megapixel camera with an LED flash, while up
front there’s a 2-megapixel selfie snapper with wide, 80-degree lens.
The gadget is also outfitted with a front-facing speaker with DTS Studio
Sound and a battery that Acer says will hold its ground for 5.5 hours
of talk time or 400 hours of standby time. It is unclear which version
of Android the Liquid Z410 runs on top of, but we do know that
proprietary software (and hardware), such as the AcerRapid key (under
the camera; gives you programmable shortcuts to actions) and Acer
QuickTouch (gesture shortcuts) made the cut.
Finally, while Acer chose CES 2015 (which is taking place in Las Vegas)
for the Liquid Z410’s announcement, the device will actually only be
sold in EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa) until further notice.
Availability is expected at the end of February.
